Congratulations Amelia Rentzios, Chemmat alumni of 2005, who was one of the three finalists for the Young Executive of the Year award at the Deloitte Business Awards, announced in December 2019. She was the only finalist from Taranaki and one of a handful from provincial New Zealand.

Amelia, who currently works for OMV as Maui production station plant manager, has previously worked in the United States in the cosmetics industry, and in the oil and gas industry in the Netherlands.

In her current role, she co-ordinates 20-50 contractors on average per week and is responsible for the safe delivery of the plant, execution of maintenance and project work and team development at the station, which provides a third of New Zealand’s natural gas needs.

Amelia also started the Young Energy Professionals Network in Taranaki in 2018.

She said that energy transition was one of the most important social issues of today.

“This is a period of energy revolution and I am excited to work for an industry that has a significant role to play in this.

“I want to be part of the transition and have a voice in the change as it develops in New Zealand.

“In establishing the network, I hope to make change by connecting the future leaders and experts in the energy industry, providing opportunities for us to address together the specific challenges we may face in the road to a net zero carbon future as well as the various scenarios that will get us there.”
