I am excited to announce that our Smart Idea proposal, “Extracting Value from an Invasive Seaweed Using Applied Ecophysiology and Green Solvents,” has been successfully funded by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)!
This project aims to turn the invasive Undaria pinnatifida into a valuable resource for New Zealand. By creating a bioactive forecast model and advancing green extraction technologies, we aim to enhance the value of Undaria, support control programs, and benefit both the environment and local coastal communities.
A huge thank you and congratulations to the fantastic team: Chris Hepburn Hepburn, Daniel Pritchard, Brendan Flack, Nigel Scott, and everyone involved in making this possible. I am excited to be part of this initiative and look forward to kicking off the project!
