The 2nd International Workshop on ‘Resource Recovery from Biobased Production Processes’ was held in the Newmarket Campus on 12 November 2019.

The workshop was jointly organised by Dr Saeid Baroutian, Prof Brent Young and together with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

The workshop specifically covered new technological, process engineering, economic and decision making tools required to achieve “Zero-Waste” production processes and to advance towards a “Circular Economy”. A large number of attendees from New Zealand and Australia were attracted to the workshop.

There were three presenters from DTU, including Prof Krist Gernaey as a Distinguished visitor, Dr Soheil Mansouri and an Auckland alumnus Dr Isuru Udugama who is now a Carlsberg Post Doc at DTU. Prof Brent Young, Dr Saeid Baroutian and Dr Bing Li were the presenters from UoA. The discussions were enriched with diverse viewpoints by the participation of industrial participants, academics, researchers and postgraduate students.”
