Congratulations CHEMMAT PhD student, Gevargis Muramthookil Thomas, for winning the Social issues category of the Ideas challenge conducted by Velocity. Gevargis is under the supervision of Dr Filicia Wicaksana and Dr Shan Yi.
The IDEAS Challenge was organised by Velocity, The University of Auckland Entrepreneurship Programme. The challenge invited ideas to solve social issues, environmental problems, or economics challenges.
Gevargis’s team’s name was ‘Caring hands’ which is a fall detection prototype developed to help the elderly.
They won a cash prize of 1000 NZD.
